READINGS

In the midst of popular culture and differentiating trends in mass media, we believe there is an increasing insurgence on the appreciation of subtlety and craft. Although this might not be the instant eye-catcher nor the split-second crowd-pleaser from miles away, the Grossman family has certainly retained unparalleled excellence and commitment to innovation and ingenuity. The ATUM is no exception to this legacy and could perhaps be a gateway for those who discerned and seek for the truth.

Stemming from the ancient Mythology about the inception of time and world, the 'Atum' represents the genesis of everything and the cosmos, the completeness of time and matter. The term is a tribute to respecting the ancient craft, technology, and integration with contemporary strategies of watchmaking. If A. Lange & Sohne is to find a partner-in-crime, Grossman would certainly earn its spot with the case back.

The Manual Winding Calibre 100.0 features a pusher at 4 o'clock to restart the seconds and allow for a precise time-setting in reminiscent of vintage pocket watches. The movement is heavily inspired by vintage bridges and base-plate with German silver, hand-engraved with snailing on ruby jewels. Steel screws have been consistently heated to a violet brown with the oversized balance wheel on adjustable masses for regulation.

The perlage, curvature and engraving have undoubtedly put the Atum to compete with some of the highest horological houses and those who know will know. In our opinion, the piece is offered with an extremely low price-point where current retail is approx. 40,000 USD with minimum 12 months waitlist.
