Celebrating 100th year anniversary of Omega in 1948, they announced the release of the first Seamaster. This release was prominent for Omega and the Seamaster undoubtably became one of their all-time best sellers.
In 1957 when scuba diving was making waves, Omega released the first Seamaster 300, an impeccably durable dive watch with 200M water resistance. Following years of succession, the reference is closely related to James Bond due to its cinematic exposure. To this day certain owners will still say that the ‘Bond’ Seamaster prompted the beginning of their collection.
When people ask me what is my go to for a modern dive piece - it’s really a no brainer. The Seamaster 300 comes in at a very wearable case size at 42mm and wide variety of variations. This particular reference is relaxed and utilitarian, coming with a gorgeous ocean inspired laser wave patterned dial.
In terms of its price range, I think there are very few that come close to this mark. Co-Axial open case back is a great touch with reliability and efficiency.
If you’re like me and enjoy a classic tone and charisma amongst your dive watches - the Seamaster is for you!
