Arguably one of the most quintessential references of Rolex’s offering since its development, the Datejust remains as an iconic, influential and elegant series - the first Rolex with an automatic date function. The Datejust has screened numerous appearances in movies and sports perhaps due to its proportion, quality and price.

The Datejust family has been very diverse and common for collectors in particular with its dial and case variations. I think this reference is probably the most friendly Rolex model with a diverse variation in pricing and collectibility among the vintage realm.

Ref 1603 is highly collectible with its engine-turned bezel, navy blue ‘Sigma’ dial in comparison to the fluted bezel from Ref. 1601. The dial radiates under daylight between a combination of blue, navy and grape which we found appealing and contrasting for a lesser-known 1603. The cherry on top is of course the ‘Sigma’ symbol indicating solid gold indices and hands, creamy lume plots and sharp lugs in original condition.
