READINGS

The President.

Amongst the watch collecting realm there are pieces made with a utilitarian goal on bracelet, then there are watches made with elegance on leather strap. This is certainly a piece that represents both elements in pure class.

`, athletes, professionals and businessman etc as ‘The President’ - the flagship offering from Rolex. Following the succession of Reference 1803, Reference 18038 introduced scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and single quick-set date function, all within Calibre 3055 which remained as a predecessor to modern Rolex movements today.

The Day-Date series hosted over a hundred dials with some being incredibly exotic and extremely low volume produced. Lapis, Onyx, Wood, Soladite and Marble are few to name with each carry a unique and irreplaceable charm with low survival rate in great condition to date. Variations of walnut, madrone, mahogany and birch are known to exist and its pattern came from tree stresses with burls appearing. It is believed that Rolex would produce a handful of dial variations and only choose the best to be cased. Then the text usually appears as gold and rarely black in birch wood.

This is certainly one of the rarest iterations known to exist and the chances of finding impeccable condition with full accessories is second to none. Here I have this variation in great condition with small signs of wear, small bracelet stretch and all original parts fully intact after 36 years kept under day-light.

The piece is acquired from its original owner in 1987 and kept under day-light for almost 36 years. You could even tell with the strong smell on the accessories that it is long kept.
