The Rolex Explorer is perhaps one of the most celebrated, known and produced utilitarian watches to date. Following its inception towards Mount Everest in 1953, the first generation Rolex Explorer ‘1016’ remained as one of Rolex’s longest production span with a highly respected and collectible status. In our opinion the modern development of an Explorer has always combined reliability, proportion and function in the most reductive way. The Explorer II has always made us think back to the era filled with adventurers and mountaineers challenging the most extreme conditions and requiring immense reliability and versatility. While there are a handful of variations of collectible Explorer II ‘Polar’, the ‘Swiss Only’ variation just doesn’t come up often with this particular condition. Spanning a short-lived 12 months of production, the ‘Swiss Only’ dials have caught much crowd within the realm and carry a classic 40 mm case, sharp lugs, iconic white dial and striking red GMT hand - topping off with a signed sticker intact on the case-back to indicate its pristine condition.
