Arguably one of the most quintessential offering from Rolex’s offering since its inception, the Submariner remains as an iconic, influential and adaptive series who needs no introduction. The Submariner has screened numerous appearances in movies and sports perhaps due to its proportion, versatility and price as a utility watch, encompassing the challenge and chase for underwater discoveries.

This specific Ref. 168000 with ‘Zorro Stardust’ dial is particularly rare and produced for 7-9 months between 1987-1988, marking its transition from 316L to 904L stainless steel with glossy dial fading to matte in uneven speckles. Crown guard pearl and indices carry an egg white patina with the ’S’ appears to be ‘Z’ in this batch production, hence marking its name and becoming increasingly hard to encounter one. Case remains unpolished and intact with all original parts. This rare iteration also shows ‘168000’ engraved between lugs in correspondence with the papers.

In our opinion a short-lived production which combines the best between both vintage ‘1680’ and modern ’116610’ release. The submariner remains if not the best, the most iconic diving watch since 1950s.
